Julie A. O'Connor, Executive Vice President, Chief Fintech Risk and AML Officer

Julie A. O’Connor, Executive Vice President, Chief Fintech Risk and AML Officer, joined Team MVB in March 2023 and is responsible for leading the Financial Crimes and Fintech Risk Teams. Ms. O’Connor has more than 25 years of leadership experience in BSA/AML, risk management, regulatory compliance, corporate governance and regulatory relations within retail/commercial banking and Fintech organizations. She is responsible for establishing the long-term vision and developing strategies for the Financial Crimes and Fintech Risk teams and initiatives that support MVB’s ongoing business operations and strategic plan. She partners with key leaders in Information Security, Fintech and CoRe Business, Operations, Enterprise Risk and Legal to ensure that risk management strategies are aligned with business objectives and compliance requirements, creating a strong foundation for sustainable growth and success.

Until 2022, Ms. O’Connor served as Chief Administrative Officer/BSA Officer at Jiko Group, Inc., and its subsidiaries, Jiko Technologies, Jiko Securities and Jiko Bank. While at Jiko, she was part of the team that secured the first acquisition by a Fintech of a nationally chartered bank. She also managed their $40M Series B funding round and served on the board of directors of Mid-Central National Bank, a Jiko Group subsidiary. Previously, she served as Chief Accounting Officer and BSA Officer of Education Loan Finance, Inc., and its subsidiary, SouthEast Bank. She also held the role of Senior Consultant for ProBank Austin Consulting (now Forvis) working with banks remediating consent orders during the 2008 financial crisis. She is an inactive Certified Public Accountant as well.

Ms. O’Connor holds an MBA from Tennessee Technological University. She earned a Graduate School of Banking Certificate from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Tennessee Technological University.
