Mike Sumbs has more than 15 years of experience advising community and regional banks on M&A, capital raising and other strategic transactions. Mr. Sumbs started his career in 2008 at Keefe, Bruyette and Woods with a focus on advising depository institutions in the Southeast.
Following his time at KBW, Mr. Sumbs spent three years as a Strategy and Corporate Development officer with Yadkin Financial, a Raleigh, N.C., based bank. During his tenure from 2012 to 2015, he supported Yadkin through three successful whole-bank acquisitions and a public follow-on equity offering.
Mr. Sumbs transitioned back into investment banking in 2015 joining Macquarie Capital where his work focused on advising banks and financial technology companies. He joined Raymond James in 2017 as part of the Financial Services Investment Banking team.
Over his career, Mr. Sumbs has advised on more than 50 bank M&A transactions and more than 30 capital formation transactions for public and private banking institutions. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond (cum laude) and an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he was recognized as a Fuqua Scholar.
